Let’s Just Start Over

Filed under: Prairie Style Windows, Steve Luhm's Ghost Mops These Floors — nedryerson @ 5:58 am

How did Pranit Smith legally enter a bet on Sportsduke? He used his brother Bob’s account, duh. You all know Bob, Bob Smith, right? Of course we don’t know Bob Smith. (Someone on the GoComics site already made a Buffalo Bob joke, because you have to be in your seventies to read this strip for the most part.)

Tevin is just catching on to the Sportduke angle. Where have you been, Tevin. But what about Bob? Bob Smith, Pranit Smith’s brother. Other random guy’s never heard of Bob Smith. Fill them in Pranit. You need some more backstory. You’re dipping your toe into online gambling and you’re a special project for Gil on the basketball team. We’ve got all the time in the world, so let’s start with Bob. Random Guy thinks Bob is a strange name for a sibling of Pranit. To go a step further, Gabe Landau (I know who he is because he’s got this season’s ridiculous hair) wants to know more background information. Why does Pranit have the last name Smith? Let’s really get into this now, because this plot has nowhere to go.

  1. It’s a Gil Thorp strip. That’s how Pranit goes with Smith. We did this same shtick with Leisl Ishii years ago.

  2. Not only does this plot have no where to go, but it’s not even moving. You can’t go anywhere if you don’t even bother to get in some sort of motion. Every strip that shows douchey Pranit pretty much is a repeat of the last one he was in. The girls story is pretty slow too, but at least it’s showing some movement, as feeble as it may be. Wake me when something happens. This shit is boring me to sleep even faster than I ever could’ve imagined.

  3. It’s his stepbrother, or he’s adopted. Riveting!

  5. Maybe the brother decided he wanted Americanized first AND last names? (“Bobby” Jindal I’m looking in your direction)… But clearly “Bobby” is just an alias for Pranit the Greek that only exists on paper… What, he’s been going to school with the clowns for years and nobody knew he had a brother?!

I think the bigger story here is why the Hindu Brothers “Smith” are so ashamed of their ethnic background.

And I don’t give a rat’s ass because I’m going to keep on asking until I get an answer: WHOSE MONEY IS PRANIT THE GREEK GAMBLING WITH?! HE HAS NEITHER A JOB NOR CREDIT CARD!

  6. Pranit Smith reminds me of a pitcher, Juan Eichelberger, who pitched Major League ball in the ’80’s. I was always intrigued how two names that originated from two radically different languages got welded into this journeyman pitcher. I realize that you get Dominique and Antoine attached to a last name but that’s more than likely not always associated with the family’s ancestry. The name sounds great to the family and that’s all there is to that. But Juan and Eichelberger makes you wonder how much ancestry was involved.
Then again, do I really want to know how much ancestry was involved with Pranit and Smith? In a Thorpiverse plot? I better pass.
