I’m sorry it’s taken me so long to get today’s post up, but I’ve been at an absolute loss as to how to spin it. This has surely got to be the tipping point for this strip, right?
There are no adults coaching the Milford High baseball team, are there? There are just male chaperones who just sit back and let the kids do whatever they want, up to and including not practicing? You notice we almost never see practices at Milford except as they’re ending, when the players are standing around listening to to adults or going over to watch their opposite-sex counterparts play a game? I’d bet Whigrub have no clue what goes on in a practice.
This is just beyond the realm of stupid. This is so asinine it makes me not want to nitpick the usual lack of attention to detail, like the uncolored lights on the school bus or the long day’s journey into night from Valley Tech to Milford. I will nitpick this: there is no way you can wear a cap backwards sitting in a car seat with headrests without knocking the cap off of your head.
Have at it, gentle readers. The more I look at today’s strip, the more it makes my head hurt.
Wowwuhweewah! This is so friggin dumb. Kaz will relay this to Gil, right? And they will work on this in practice, get the kid to an eye doctor or SOMETHING! Is the backwards hat douche turd really only going cross his fingers after saying he’s work on it with him? I’m sure this scene will be repeated Monday.

What about Scooters….beard??.. in P1?? Or goatee? Then he gets in the car and it disappears. A brutal artist mistake. He forgot Scooter has been clean shaven all spring.

I thought standing in cafeteria tables was dumb. I thought Hollis bullshit was dumber. I thought Pranit makin others bets with his own money was even dumber yet. This is dumber than any of those stories.

Scooter is crossing his fingers in P3, hoping that the readers will buy this crap.

Here’s what I don’t get… Scooter has really been putting his ass out on the line covering for his friend’s handicap… It’s almost admirable.
But you’d think that if Scooter is THAT much of a good guy bestie bro, he’d I dunno, forget about baseball games for a bit and insist his friend go see the doctor? Is nobody concerned that Gregg’s worsening eyesight could be an indication of an even more serious health problem, i.e., a brain tumor??

Good point Hitorque. If anything, Scooter is putting him in more danger with his “ ideas”. What a horse’s ass.

And for those keeping score at home, Gil was last seen on 18 April, and was last depicted speaking on 13 April. The only way Rubin can keep this story twitching fitfully toward its conclusion is to assume no adult supervision.

Teenchy, I swear, that has to be the WORST imitation of Maynard G. Krebs in P1.
And the readers score some excellent points as usual and I’d like to add this could pass for a Dobie Gillis episode. What’s funnier, the antics that Scooter are employing are straight FROM Maynard G. Krebs, i.e., if Dobie had the same problems as Gregg Hamm, Krebs would be employing the same juvenile tactics. But that was for laughs and kept a hit show going. Get the hint, Thorpiverse.
