A week’s worth of active shooter drill comes to an end and with it, more questions than answers. For example:
How long is Gil’s neck? Where does it attach to his body?
Was Gil’s line in P2 written by Barajas or did Whigham ad lib it?
Will Marty refer to the people in P2 as “crisis actors” on his podcast? Will he lose sponsors as a result?
Will Gil press the teacher who waylaid the active shooter into duty as his defensive coordinator?
Will Gil let Keri go home or will he make them stay in class lest he be accused of playing favorites? If he makes them stay, will they go to Mimi for a pass?
Which of the many plot lines, if any, will move to the forefront as factors in the Mudlark football season?
Talk amongst yourselves.
Oh, yeah, almost forgot: It wasn’t Gil Thorp but I passed through Jim Thorpe, PA, this morning. Here’s a pic from the car window.

They actually did some sort of shooter lock down drill at my teacher daughter’s school Friday and she said every kid was useless after that so Keri reaction is probably accurate, even though she’s older than grade school kids.

As a teacher assistant, I hated active shooter drills. I worked in high school and it was horrifying. I hated walking down the halls and seeing “Stop the bleed” kits attached to each wall. I am in a rural area that would be the perfect school shooter area, lots of legal gun owners, and kids with their own firearms. My family and kids included. But it only takes one kid without the support and supervision they need to destroy a community. But what I really hate is the narrative that a teacher is somehow going to be able to save a classroom full of kids against high powered bullets. I was only getting minimum wage after 17 years working in the school system.(minimum wage kept going up while my pay rate didnt) I wanted to go home to my family every day too. I don’t k ow how to solve the problem of kids shooting up their schools, but I dont think terrorizing the entire school is helping. And the kids are terrorized during a drills so are the adults.
I think this story arc is very accurate about the drills and the aftermath.
