This Week in Milford

In Bench We Trust

Filed under: actual action, basketball, Gil Thorp — nedryerson @ 12:32 pm

This is the second strip of a two-strip basketball game. Milford gets a win over Salem. Tobias has a cold night and gets testy when Gil sends him to the bench. It’s just all Toby all the time. Was the game even in jeopardy when Gil made the substitution? All we have is a final score that wasn’t terribly close and see that Tobias, despite being Mr. Prep all of the sudden, can get lost in thought instead of having his head in the game.

This strip is ticking me off. One panel to say goodbye to Kaz, then three strips in Scottsdale to insinuate that Mimi can still pull a young golf coach, and then this “game” to showcase the new kid with all the feels.

  1. Agree. The talent pool for boys sports at MHS must be pretty thin if a kid who was walking around as a girl with boobs and a vah-J-J not too long ago can just waltz in and take over starting positions such as running back for FB and starting guard for BB without much challenge from any of the boys trying out for or already entrenched in those positions. I can’t wait to see how awesome Tobe is at baseball. Tobe should at least come clean with Gil and tell him “…coach…I just can’t play well when Keri is up there in the stands hangin’ all over Pedro…can you ban her from attending the games?…that would really help me focus better…I can ask Mrs. Thorp if you don’t have the time to talk to Keri….let me know…thanks…”

  2. This is a no-duh situation anyway. As in, Darius should have been the starter or getting more PT than a guy who really hasn’t established himself athletically to this point. I mean, I know Thorpiverse likes to make Jordans out of Jordaches but Toby needs to understand his dubious celebrity status runs the risk of making him a goat rather than a G.O.A.T.
    Watch and learn, Tobe.

  3. Toby’s journey to becoming the next “Future Three Sport Pro” Jarvis White is getting rocky…
