Goofball Being Goofball

Filed under: huge earrings, Milford Idiots — nedryerson @ 2:56 am

Mike Knappe is a garden variety Milford goofball, acting the fool in class. Maybe he’s got the hots for Phoebe Keener, and there is a flirtatious aspect to his goofball behavior. If so, is there even a chance that this strip will give us a story with a relationship that gives Phoebe any kind of development beyond teammate/occasional hallway companion of some other paper thin Lady Mudlark? Who am I kidding. This is Milford. There are no characters here, except goofballs.

Today’s topic in class is Harper Lee. Write that down. It will be on the test.

  1. Professor Robert E. Lee looks at him and is like “…sure, fuckstick, lets have a parade…. hey class!… line up in the hall…. we’re gonna give Mike and Phoebe a parade…. Mike!…Phoebe!… stand here and wait for the parade…”

  2. This is something of an accomplishment for Rubin – in just a bit over two weeks, he’s created a loathsome character without having him be an actual villain.

  3. Phoebe Keener didn’t get enough air-time from the last plot so now she’s one of the subjects in a Louisa May Alcott novel? And Alexa from IBM is now the Ed McMahon to Phoebe’s Carson when those roles were bluntly reversed 2 months ago?

“…she wasn’t clear what to interpret from her relationship with this insouciant myrmidon. She wanted to cling to her heart, yet felt pity for this foppish buffoon…”

  4. Is the teacher still standing dumbfounded by WB’s wonderfully inane question? Is he a substitute teacher? Dig that pink chalkboard. The nameless broad in P 3 carries her book strangely. No one has a book bag? Or even a chivalrous gent to carry the books for the ladies? Milford being Milford.

  5. P 1.5: “…you know what, Mike?, I’ve had just about enough of your silly distractions…it wastes my time….it wastes the time of your classmates, and I’m done with it….pick up your shit, get out this classroom, and don’t bother coming back..I’ll inform the office that you dropped the class…also, I don’t care if this takes away your eligibility to play spring sports, so don’t go whinin’ to coach Thorp…it won’t change a thing…”

  6. Ned, in response to Frank

“Mr. Spicoli, why do you shamelessly waste my time with your inappropriate comments and sewage you drink from a coffee cup?”
    “I don’t know.”
“‘I don’t know.’ I like that, Mr. Spicoli. ‘Mr. Hand, will I pass the class or get a parade or get laid with Phoebe?’ ‘Gee, Mr. Spicoli, I don’t know.’ I am going to print it all next to Harper Lee for all my other classes to see, giving full credit to you!!!!!”

Class erupts in laughter. Gil spits out his Tang in the office across the hallway.

  7. Tdrew…or, professor Lee and the class could show up at next baseball game and do what they can to disrupt the game with band instruments, air horns, drums, and other parade noises when the witty “mayor” is at bat to see how he likes having his time wasted and then say “gee, Mike…I thought that you WANTED a parade?…” ….Rubin has manged indeed to create a very unlikable character without having him try and fuck someone over like Chet or Teddy did

  8. Oh, hey it’s girls talking to each about a boy. What else would they have to discuss?

  9. A fucking parade after one win? Who the hell does he think he’s playing for, the Baltimore Orioles?

  10. […] She liked my homepiece Mikey K She said she might just give him play ‘Cause he would give her a parade Instead he flashed her with a blade That punk-ass Rooney got dismayed Then Mike Knappe was sent […]
